In this first video of a series dedicated to the use of biomechanics in combat, Dmitry Skogorev, head of RMA Systema SV school, introduces us to a technical and deeply strategic approach to martial arts. Throughout the training, emphasis is placed on the importance of maintaining constant contact with the opponent, deflecting their pressure, and using the entire body in a coordinated manner to control the situation. Progressively, we analyze how to use each part of the body-the shoulders, legs, steps, hands, and elbows-in an integrated and efficient manner. The video teaches us to initially yield, allowing the opponent to initiate their movement, and then use their strength against them through grabs, levers, and actions aimed at breaking their attack structure. The third section focuses specifically on the biomechanical principles of taking down an opponent. We learn how to alter their body axis and center of gravity by manipulating their spine and key joints. Skogorev breaks down concepts such as planes of movement, force vectors, combinations of opposing forces, acceleration, and helical movement, highlighting the helix as a fundamental principle. The video details how to intervene on the arms, elbows, head, neck, hips, and knees, either through pressure or impact, always seeking to reduce the range of motion and distance. All the work is geared toward creating a reaction in the opponent that allows us to lead them into imbalance and, ultimately, to the ground. A scientific and tactical approach to hand-to-hand combat that redefines effectiveness in martial arts. 60 Min.
